Election of Chapter Offices
Take the next step in Leadership.
The Kansas Chapter of APCO is looking for a few good women
and men, who are committed to
providing professional networking, professional development, technical
assistance, advocacy, and outreach to empower and enrich our members.
Service as a member of the Board is an
honor that carries with it awesome responsibilities. Before a member commits to
being a candidate, that responsibility must be clearly understood and
appreciated, not only by the candidate, but by his or her employer.
A candidate's employer must have a keen
awareness of the value of the Chapter's mission, the honor of APCO service, and
the strong support the candidate must have to effectively serve as an APCO
Officer.
This support is manifested in many ways
which include, but are not limited to, the need for the employee to be able to
be away from his/her employment for APCO Business Meetings. Attendance at the
annual conference, Executive Committee Meetings, on-site reviews, and other
functions is imperative.
The duties and responsibilities of each
position is detailed in the bylaws. (found
on the Kansas APCO website)
The positions up for election are:
2nd Vice President
Chapter Executive Committee Person
Executive Council Representative
Secretary / Treasurer
If you are interested in serving,
download the Declaration of Candidacy (found on the Kansas APCO website) and
submit it to the KSAPCO Board Past President Lance Royer.
Lance
Royer, Captain
Shawnee
County Sheriff’s Office
320
S Kansas Ave Ste 200
Topeka,
KS 66603-3641
Email: Lance.Royer@snco.us
Elections will
be held at the Fall Annual Conference in Dodge City, October 12 - 14,
2015.

Spring Conference - Overflow Hotel
We have filled up our conference hotel, the Holiday Inn in Manhattan, and have reserved a block of rooms at an overflow hotel for those that were unable to book at the Holiday Inn. There will be a shuttle to take you back and forth so you won't miss out on any events!
The overflow hotel is the Parkwood Inn & Suites, 505 S. 17th Street, Manhattan. They will honor the same $89.95 room rate we had secured at the Holiday Inn. Reservations can be made via their website, www.parkwoodinnmanhattan.com *, or by calling the hotel directly at 785-320-5440 or 877-816-5440. Please refer to the group name Spring 2015 KS APCO Conference.
*Note: There have been some issues with people reserving via the website but I just confirmed yesterday (4/14) that there are still rooms available in our block and if you can't book them on the website you should call the hotel directly. They are working to resolve the issues. Technology - isn't it grand?!
