Reminder of TCOY nomination deadline

Just a reminder...nominations for the 2009 Kansas Telecommunicator of the Year will soon be due! Nomination packets will be accepted to February 15. Do you have someone in your agency who is exceptional and performed above and beyond last year? Consider nominating them. Forms can be found on the Kansas APCO website at www.ksapco.net.

National Telecommunicators Week is April 11-17, 2010. A link to a resource website offering promotional ideas, sample proclamations, and sample press releases has been added to KSAPCO's homepage at www.ksapco.net.

Information on HB2423

Kansas House Bill 2423 (replaced Senate Bill 48) pertains to the application of a 55 cent phone tax on all landline, wireless, and VoIP accounts that have access to 9-1-1. Information on HB2423 has been added to the Kansas APCO website at http://www.ksapco.net/legislation.html.

2009 Telecommunicator of the Year Nominations

The packet for Telecommunicator of the Year award has been placed on the Kansas APCO web page, http://www.ksapco.net/TCOY.html. Please review the past year for your center looking for those people that go above and beyond, whether on one incident or their performance all year. Nominees do NOT have to be members of APCO. Easterly receives Chapter Life Membership

As one of his last official duties as President of the Kansas Chapter, James A. Reed corrected an oversight from 2006 by presenting Kenny Easterly with the Chapter Life Membership. Kenny is a former Chapter President of Kansas APCO and served many years as the Chapter Committee Person. Congratulations Kenny!

The website has been updated to include a new look, in addition to addition of the 2010 Board of Officers, new resource information, and other revisions. Don't forget to send your agency news to the webmaster, as well as agency information if you'd like your agency to be listed on the PSAPs & Dispatch Centers page.
